State Bond Commission Approves $2.43 Million for Renovation Project
Friday, May 29, 2026
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Optimus Health Care today welcomed approval by the State Bond Commission of $2,434,360 in state bonding for renovations at its East Main Street location in Bridgeport, a major investment that will expand access to OB/GYN, pediatric, and dental care for patients in Bridgeport, Stratford, and the surrounding region.
The funding will support first-floor renovations at 982 East Main Street to improve safety, accessibility, and the long-term sustainability of the facility. The project is expected to support an additional OB-GYN clinical team and allow Optimus to serve approximately 1,500 additional patients annually, along with hundreds of additional pediatric and dental patients each year.

With Bond Commission approval now secured, Optimus can move forward on a project that will strengthen care capacity at one of its key Bridgeport sites and help meet growing demand for women’s health, pediatric, and dental services.
“When we talk about public investment, this is exactly what it should look like. This funding will strengthen a trusted community health care institution, expand access to critical services for women and children, and help ensure more families can get the care they need in a facility that is safer, stronger, and built for the long term. I am proud to support this project and proud to see it moving forward.” – Sen. Herron Gaston
“For Stratford families, this critical funding matters. Each year, the women’s OB/GYN and pediatric clinic serves hundreds of patients from Stratford, and those families deserve access to dignified, high-quality, affordable healthcare in a facility that can meet the growing demand. As a legislator and a women’s health/maternal-child nurse, I was proud to support this investment because it will make a meaningful difference to improve the health and well-being of my constituents.” – Rep. Kaitlyn Shake
“This is a spectacular win for the East Side and the entire Greater Bridgeport community. For 50 years, Optimus has been a trusted, irreplaceable provider of care for our families. This $2.43 million investment supercharges their ability to do what they do best: deliver high-quality, culturally sensitive medicine. Upgrading the East Main Street facility means shorter wait times, state-of-the-art clinical spaces, and expanded access to crucial pediatric and women’s health services for patients across Bridgeport and Stratford. This is smart, direct public funding that strengthens our community’s health infrastructure for the next generation.” – Rep. Chris Rosario
“This is a smart and worthwhile investment in community health infrastructure. Families in Stratford rely on Optimus, just as families in Bridgeport do, and this project will help ensure that important services remain available, accessible, and positioned to grow. Supporting projects like this means supporting better outcomes for patients and stronger systems of care for the region as a whole.” – Rep. Joseph Gresko
The project will renovate first-floor clinical space at Optimus Health Care’s East Main Street location while increasing capacity for core service lines at a site that already provides pediatric, OB/GYN, dental, family medicine, Ryan White, Psychiatric and behavioral health services. The investment also comes during Optimus Health Care’s 50th anniversary year.
“On behalf of Optimus Health Care, we are deeply grateful to Governor Lamont, and the State Bond Commission for approving this critical funding, and to the members of the Bridgeport and Stratford legislative delegations who helped champion this project. This investment will help us expand access to care, strengthen an important community health facility, and better serve the thousands of patients and families who rely annually on our women’s OB/GYN and pediatric services at this location.” Karen Daley, Chief Executive Officer, Optimus Health Care.
